Riding for a Cause

The only thing better than cycling through the world-famous Texas Hill Country is doing it all for a good cause. Tour de Boerne is a 501(c)(3) charitable organization born from a mission to create a ride as positively impactful as it is beautiful.

Each year, riders are welcomed to our cozy pocket of Texas pasture, peaks and valleys to help give back to those in the Boerne community who are in need. Our 62-mile, 39-mile and 25-mile courses sprawl through Boerne and neighboring towns of Waring, Welfare, Luckenbach, Sisterdale and Comfort.

The courses may be challenging, but we host an after-party worth riding for. Cyclists are welcomed back to Don Strange Ranch for a BBQ meal, cold beer and great conversation.

Meet Our Board of Directors

Mark Deans

President

Email: [email protected]

Mark was born in Canada, raised in California, and employed for 35 years as a Manufacturing and Quality Assurance Engineer in North Texas. Although he did not immigrate to Texas until 1982, he came to love both the people and places of the Lone Star State. One such example is Mary “Alexine” Norton (Texas A&M Class of 1981) who he somehow convinced to marry him in 1984. They have two children: a daughter (Alaina) and a son (Trent), both happily married, gainfully employed, and living outside of their parents’ home. In 2018 Mark and Alexine retired and relocated to the Texas Hill Country.

Over the years Mark has served on various boards; St. Mary’s Catholic School (Sherman, TX), St. Mary’s Catholic Church Parrish Council and was the Finance Chairman for the construction of St. Anne’s Catholic Church (Sherman). He is a 30-year member of the Knights of Columbus, 4th degree.

In support of the Tour De Boerne, Mark managed the “on course” operations for several years and this year was elected as Board President. Although he is not currently an active bike rider, as a young boy Mark delivered the Martinez News Gazette on his stingray bicycle that his dad bought for $5 at a police auction of lost bicycles.
